Overview

A 15-minute boat ride from Port Royal is a small, low-lying island with one of Jamaica's most beautiful beaches. Lime Cay, the largest of the small fish off the coast of Port Royal, is uninhabitable for humans because it is periodically submerged at high tide. Lime Cay is part of Jamaica and the beaches there are public and open to anyone who can visit them.

Local Flavor:
Lime Cay is the city's favorite Sunday beach getaway. Many of them anchor their boats in Morgan Harbor and sail in the afternoon with lunch and refreshments as there are no services on the island. A shuttle or boat can be hired from Morgan Harbor for the day, but for the more adventurous, a small fee will persuade a Port Royal town fisherman to take you to and from the island in the morning.

Famous for:
Sunday afternoon limes at Lime Cay are very popular with Kingstonians. On weekdays, clothing-optional tanning is acceptable because there is likely no one around. But on Sundays, the tone and character completely change as the little island pulses with life, laughter and good times.
