Description

Travellers looking for a genuine Jamaican experience are drawn to St. Elizabeth because of its laid-back charm and rich historical background. Known as "Jamaica's Breadbasket" because of its lush farmlands, this parish was previously a major producer of sugar. The parish was the first to get electricity on the island in 1893 through the efforts of the Leyden brothers'. The capital of St. Elizabeth is Black River.
