Hanover is the second-smallest parish in terms of area in Jamaica, behind Kingston, but it is also one of the most interesting due to its unique features and interesting past. The parish was named after King George the First, a member of the German House of Hanover, when it was founded in 1723.
The capital of this parish is Lucea, and the parish is located on the northwestern end of the island. Hanover also boasts some of the finest beaches and the most elegant hotels in the country. Travelling from Negril to Lucea is a sightseeing excursion in and of itself; most of the coastline landscape is stunning. You will witness the merging of the old and new Jamaica as you go through the coastal settlements.
