A Part of Jamaica’s Art History

The Olympia Gallery was founded by Jamaican civil engineer, artist, and art patron A.D. Scott and officially opened its doors on August 19, 1974. Originally known as the Olympia International Art Centre and Hotel, it was created as more than just a gallery. Scott envisioned a cultural space that could bring together visual art, music, poetry, dance, and theatre.

Today, Olympia continues that legacy and is recognized as one of Jamaica's leading private art galleries.

Explore Jamaican and Caribbean Art

The gallery's collection focuses primarily on original Jamaican paintings and prints, while also featuring ceramics, sculptures, and mixed-media works. Visitors can discover works from both established and emerging artists, making each visit an opportunity to see different perspectives of Jamaica and the wider Caribbean.

The main gallery features a large two-floor exhibition space with an unusual octagonal design and a large domed roof. The property also includes a sculpture garden, giving visitors another way to experience art outside the traditional gallery setting.

More Than an Art Gallery

Olympia is part of a larger creative space that includes the Olympia Mini Gallery (OMG), where smaller exhibitions, workshops, artist demonstrations, book signings, and other creative events can take place. The property also has an art supply centre and an on-site frame shop.

Located at 202 Old Hope Road, Kingston 6, Olympia Gallery is a worthwhile stop for anyone interested in Jamaican culture, history, and visual arts. The gallery is currently open Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
